Lake Compounce, America’s First Family Theme Park. Named for the Mattatuck/Tunix Native American chief who sold the land in the 1680s, Lake Compounce has long been the site of exciting activities, from electricity science experiments in the 19th Century to “the decade of the roller coaster” in the 1980s. Today, Lake Compounce is a family-friendly theme park with thrill rides for tots, teens, and grown-ups. State-of-the-art rides include Garfield’s Drop Zone, Boulder Dash, and Zoomerang, and compliment the vintage 1927 wooden roller coaster and 1911 carousel. The water park offers a variety of wet experiences from Clipper Cove, a 300 gallon water bucket and slide, and the more tame Anchor Bay with its Lazy River. Schedules, tickets, and information about discount tickets are available at http://www.lakecompounce.com/index.php [Top] Stay at Best Western New England Inn & Suites and amuse yourself at the parks. Six Flags New England. Six Flags is one of the largest theme park franchises in the United States, known for its exhilarating , innovated roller coasters and awesome entertainment. Six Flags New England, in Agawam, Massachusetts, doesn’t disappoint with its rip-roaring choice of rides. There are ten coasters, including two brand new ones, Batman and Superman, and over 50 rides. With names like Buzzsaw, Catapult, and Pandemonium, you know they are not all for the faint of heart. Little kids will like Bumper Buggies and Paul Bunyan’s Play Area. Most popular rides have a Fast Pass system in place, which cuts down on that not-so-popular long wait in line. The park almost always has a special promotion on tickets and season passes, so for more information check out http://www.sixflags.com/parks/newengland/ParkInfo/index.asp [Top]
